The Love Doctor
Every August, since 1991 we have been going to the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. The pageant is a French art form of “living pictures” that are incredibly faithful art recreations of classical and contemporary works with real people posing to look exactly like their counterparts in the original pieces. It is in an outdoor amphitheater with a professional orchestra, original score, live narration, intricate sets and sophisticated lighting. If you have never been to a pageant, you must put it on your list of things to do. This is our favorite event of the summer, the theme this year is “Eat, Drink and Be Merry”. This week we celebrated as we attended our 18th pageant with our friends, Gil and Louise from Van Nuys, California. We had dinner before the pageant, spent the night and had breakfast at The Beach House before returning to the desert. We are so busy these days that we treasure these special times together and thoroughly enjoyed our romantic get-away.
It has been a delightfully busy summer. We were in Calistoga for our first book signing at Pacifico Restaurante on July 3rd. We were joined by 25 of our family and friends and had a wonderful dinner together. A good time was had by all.
I am delighted to report that I closed the door to my office on Friday evening March 26th and didn’t enter again until Sunday morning, March 28th. We had many ideas about what to do on our March 27th day of fun. We thought about going to Font’s Point in Borrego Springs, a stunning overlook of the Borrego Badlands, for hiking and picnicking or kayaking out of Oceanside Harbor or hiking to Lake Cahuilla, a trail near our house. After much deliberation, we decided to go hiking in the Indian Canyons near Palm Springs, California. And we are so glad we did. Desert temperatures this time of year are ideal for hiking and because of our winter rain, everything was in full bloom. Murray Canyon is an easy 2 mile hike with fifteen stream crossings and a slight elevation gain leading to “The Seven Sisters”, a beautiful series of waterfalls at the end of the trail. We had a late lunch on the patio at Viva, a new restaurant in La Quinta Old Town, which is owned by William Devane of Hollywood fame. We napped that afternoon and were revived for dinner and a movie later that evening. Spending the day in nature was the perfect choice; while I was hiking I was mesmerized by the visuals, easily in the present moment and had no anxiety about projects waiting for completion. I started the week refreshed and rejuvenated. I highly recommend a day in nature with the one you love.

This is my first blog on our new website. There is much to do to get this new site up and fully-functioning so it will be ready when our book, Love Heals Hearts, Transform Your Relationship, is published in just a few weeks.
I am so busy that I am feeling somewhat overwhelmed. I know I am not putting enough time into taking good care of my relationship with my husband, Craig. I don’t remember when we last had a weekend of fun. My immediate goal is to schedule a day of fun with Craig. It looks like the first available date is March 27th. I will keep you posted as to what we decide to do.
